Are you moving? Are you gonna live by yourself or with your loved one in a little small but very cozy flat? You don’t want to give up the Crib but haven’t got any space? Here’s a cute idea: a take away Crib that fits into a shoe box (very useful also to withdraw past the holidays!). I confess that the idea came to me because at home I had a lot of plywood and balsa sheets, leftovers from design models at university … I hadto recycle them by force!
What do you need? A box for shoes empty, wrapping paper to cover it, 5mm thick plywood, a sheet of balsa, battery-powered LED lights, glitter and a little bit of sand, hot glue; to cut the plywood you need a coping saw, for the balsa just a cutter .
Start by creating the base, then choose how to arrange the various elements that you want to insert; hut with the Holy Family, the Three Kings, houses and dunes, for example. Draw them on plywood or balsa and cut. Mark the base points highlight where you want to create points of light, perforated at the base of these points. Now on the back of the base set the battery power led lights in the holes. On the basis glued four strips so as to create a frame that covers the housing of the batteries. Fixed elements of the crib and get jiggy to decorate them with glitter – I made the tail of the comet and the wings of the Angel – with the sand – the domes of the Moorish-style houses. Et voila! Your Crib is finished, turn on the lights and you will be immersed in the Christmas atmosphere, all in the space of a box!
Tip: study well the placement of lights, it makes a lot! For example you can arrange some fre-the-scenes that create the sand dunes, some inside the houses to simulate the interior lights, and others in the hut behind the silhouettes of the Holy Family. Obviously the materials to make this project can be as different as paper, cardboard, styrofoam and anything that your imagination suggests! And you? How you would realize your Crib in the box?
